It is often said, with some vehemence, that men and women belong to parallel, even antagonistic, universes. Who hasn't heard the resigned statement sighed with helplessness, and pronounced with force: "I can't understand the opposite sex"? And how many times have we fallen into the cliché of considering our inability to understand the other as an insurmountable tragedy? This article does not spring from such a defeatist view. Instead, it arises from a constant desire to investigate, to uncover the mysterious sexual qualities that seem to be an eternal echo throughout history and which, instead of drawing us closer as a species, seem to open an abyss between us. So, instead of surrendering to the supposed incomprehensibility of the other, we undertake the bold task of unraveling these differences, tracing their biological roots, to make conscious those traits that define us as members of a basic sexual unit. Thus, we venture to explore the impulses and feelings that daily shape our behavior.
Within Humanity: Rethinking Sexual Condition
Let's take a moment to contemplate a kaleidoscope, that toy that amazes us with its eternal ability to generate new forms from the same amount of glass pieces. A kaleidoscope is a perfect example to illustrate our next step: we need to rethink ourselves within humanity, in our sexual condition. We are all part of the kaleidoscope of the human race, part of a whole while maintaining our individuality. And just like what happens in this toy, if we remove the cultural varnish, we will see that our actions separate into colored fragments that adhere to our basic unit as men or women.
If we were biologists, we would record these differentiated behaviors and arrange them in a graph, examining the extremes and deviations from the standard in the style of Gauss and his famous bell curve of the normal distribution. By paying attention to those values and aspects that most deviate from the center of the bell, we will discover the characteristics that define us and are often repressed in our daily lives. This search will allow us to understand our roots and what internally configures us.
Evolutionary Biology and Sexual Behavior
Let's now look at the animal world, and more specifically at mammals, our close relatives. We can distinguish two types of behavior among them: on the one hand, there are the monogamous ones, those like meerkats or jackals, who choose a single mate; and on the other hand, there are the "tournament species", which males compete for the right to mate with the female, as happens with gorillas or lions. In these latter, the game of sexual selection is harsh and ruthless: males must show their potential so that females, supreme judges, choose who they believe carries the best genes, guaranteeing strong and healthy offspring.
These dynamics of attraction and sexual bonding can be a mirror in which we reflect, a guide to understanding those behaviors and impulses that seem to be coded in our psyche. Isn't it fascinating to think that we humans find ourselves at an intermediate point between these two forms of interaction? We are, at once, monogamous and competitors, an evolutionary mosaic that reflects our complex biological roots.
The Prism of Evolutionary Psychology
David Buss, a prominent name in evolutionary psychology, offers us a fresh lens through which to observe this phenomenon. Buss argues that our evolutionary adaptation has shaped our sexual and mating behavior, leading to divergent strategies between men and women. Broadly speaking, men tend to value fertility and beauty, signs of health and reproductive ability, while women seek indicators of protection and provision, such as status and success. Buss's work across 37 cultures reveals that these trends are universal and transcend cultural barriers, providing us with a powerful lens to understand the differences between sexes not as a source of discord but as a reflection of our complex evolutionary history.

A Triangle, a Tree, and a Cyclops: The Complexity of Sexual Attraction
Can we represent human sexuality with geometric figures or mythological characters? Indeed, we can give it a try. Picture sexuality as a triangle with a joint base from which two divergent branches emerge. Or as a tree, robust and firm in its trunk yet branching off in different directions. In this tree of sexuality, men tend to lean towards one side, and women towards the other, and each of these deviations corresponds to two distinct biological ideals.
Let's think of the generic man as a cyclops, that mythical being with a single eye in the middle of its forehead. His focus is unidirectional, and his goal is simple and straightforward: sexual and reproductive. It is directed towards the beauty and physical health of the opposite sex, attributes that signify fertility. But what about women? Can we also represent them with a mythological figure? The generic woman, unlike the Cyclops, is essentially complex. In other words, she perceives the world in its totality and understands the entirety of the experience, not just a single goal. Like a sphinx, her allure lies in her mystery and depth, and her attraction toward men is not based solely on physical appearance but on more diverse and abstract factors, such as success, status, stability, and admiration.
![El Espejo de la Evolución](/images/articles/El%20Espejo%20de%20la%20Evoluci%C3%B3n.jpeg)
The Sphinx and the Cyclops: Feminine Intuition and Masculine Perception
Due to their greater investment in reproduction, women need to be selective when choosing their partners. They will seek out the one who stands out, who demonstrates greater potential and sophistication, the one who meets their demands. It's as if they have an internal radar, a sort of sixth sense that guides them toward the man who has the excellence and sophistication they need. On the other hand, Robert Sapolsky, a renowned professor at Stanford University, adds a valuable complement to this scenario: not everything is about genetics and evolution; our environment and experiences influence our behaviors and responses equally.
Polygamy and Hypergamy: The Evolutionary Dance of Human Sexuality
These opposing biological foundations lead to two distinct reproductive strategies: while men tend towards polygamy, meaning they maximize their reproductive capacity by mating with several women, women seek out the best possible candidate through a strategy known as hypergamy. This game of strategies reflects our deepest and most basic roots as a species, an echo of our closest mammalian ancestors in the evolutionary chain. However, in our species, this difference generates a constant and irresolvable tension that we need to learn to handle.
The Challenge of Understanding: Acknowledging the Diversity of the Human Condition
![El Laberinto de la Comprensión](/images/articles/El%20Laberinto%20de%20la%20Comprensi%C3%B3n.jpeg)
The ultimate challenge we face as a species is to recognize and accept these inherent differences in our biological natures. It's about breaking out of the vicious circle that divides us into opposites and keeps us in a constant back-and-forth of attracting and repelling without reaching a proper understanding of the other. We need to make these attributes conscious in order to coexist, understand, and have compassion for our differences. In the end, each of us is a kaleidoscope of genetic and environmental influences, a complex and beautiful blend of cyclops and sphinx.
Thus, the study of our sexuality and its dynamics not only teaches us about our origins and evolution but also gives us a vital lesson: we are a diverse and complex species, and it is precisely this diversity and complexity that makes us human.

A new day dawns, and with it, we confront the mysteries of our existence, the echoes of feelings and situations that, like waves hitting the shore, seem to return again and again. Every beat of the human experience hides a seemingly familiar melody, a rhythm that reflects us all. Isn't it in recognition of this shared essence that we find the balm for our individual challenges? Today, we will delve into the sacred framework that makes up our humanity, building bridges of understanding between us and others.
The Echo of Experience: Repetition as a sacred trait
Let's imagine for a moment a sacred act. A rite that, far from being eternal, pierces the veil of time, blurring the lines between past, present, and future. This is the nature of the sacred: Earthly experiences that intertwine us like threads in a vast and complicated human tapestry, incessantly repeating in a cyclical and temporal dance.
![The cycle of repetition](/images/articles/El%20ciclo%20de%20la%20repetici%C3%B3n.jpeg)
In the sacred, the whisper of the collective unconscious resonates. A voice that cries out: We are one. Carl Jung defended the idea of a vast reservoir where the experiences of our ancestors are stored, their triumphs, their defeats, the essence of countless repetitions. Yuval Harari, in his celebrated work "Sapiens", also strikes this chord, drawing patterns of behavior, ideas, and beliefs that resonate throughout history. This cycle of repetition, then, can be contemplated as a testament to our evolutionary condition.
Now then, how many of us, men and women in our 30s, 40s, and 50s, tread the same paths, and live the same moments? How many have done so before, and how many will do so after? Life, like a repeatedly played but constantly renewed tango, unfolds experiences and emotions that, despite their familiarity, never cease to surprise us. I recall an anecdote that illustrates this cycle: a friend and I, two men of similar age, found ourselves in a conversation that could have occurred in a Parisian café at the turn of the 20th century or in a medieval tavern. At that moment, I grasped the essence of our humanity in this ordinary and everyday act, perceiving the invisible bond that tied me to all those men who had once shared similar words and reflections. In this repetition, the sacred character of our experiences is revealed, showing that the timeless resides "in the common", in what connects us.
In the sacred, the whisper of the collective unconscious resonates. A voice that cries out: We are one.
The dance of everyday life: The sacred rituals of the day-to-day
![The shared melody](/images/articles/La%20melod%C3%ADa%20compartida.jpeg)
The act of eating and daily rituals such as getting out of bed, showering, and brushing our teeth; are actions that, in their repetition, acquire a patina of sacredness. All human beings, regardless of their culture or geography, must feed themselves, an essential and repetitive rite that is as fundamental to our survival as sacred in its nature. Food, in its many forms and flavors, plays a central role in traditions and ceremonies around the world, enhancing its divine character. Though it may seem trivial to us, brushing our teeth is also a sacred act, a repeated dance that demonstrates the beauty of human life in its most basic essence.
Eckhart Tolle, in his influential book "The Power of Now", reflects on the importance of living in the present and how our daily routines, though repetitive, can become mindful meditations. But what if we take this concept a step further? What if our routines are not only a meditation but an artistic decision that celebrates the sacredness of our existence? In this dance of everyday life lies the beauty and divinity of being human.
Unveiling our humanity: "The generic man", "The generic woman"
![The sea of human connection](/images/articles/El%20mar%20de%20la%20conexi%C3%B3n%20humana.jpeg)
To delve into the labyrinth of our identity, we must first recognize ourselves as biological beings, animals endowed with consciousness. Only by discovering ourselves in our animality can we unveil the figure of the generic man or generic woman that inhabit us. An echo of primitive humanity that, in its constant repetition, offers us a mirror to dissolve the deceptive reflection of the ego.
Is it not indeed in the surrender to our essential nature that we discover the balm of authenticity? By allowing the man or woman that we are to unfold, invading our most intimate corners, the path toward self-understanding becomes gentler and smoother. As we allow our humanity to flow and occupy the spaces where fears and anxieties once reigned, the ego dissolves and reveals the sacredness of our experiences and concerns, discovering in them the threads of our fundamental biological unity.
From Children to Adults: The Journey towards Individuality
This perspective invites us to understand ourselves, first and foremost, as the human species, woman or man, and then as individuals with singularities and particularities. This pattern is especially evident in childhood, where children are perceived in their generic essence before they are seen as individuals. Over time, the sea of the generic recedes and gives way to personality, opinions, and the person. However, isn't it true that many of our thoughts and emotions are the product of our generic condition, sex, and age, undeniable attributes of our humanity?
The sacred ritual of everyday life
At every moment, our experiences seem to resonate in the mirrors of other lives, like a reflection that, in its repetition and universality, acquires a sacred glow. From this perspective, sacredness permeates every corner of our existence, a constant reminder of our interconnectedness.
However, the sacredness of everyday life doesn't imply a conservative perspective but the recognition that even the humblest acts, such as washing our hands, can imbue us with meaning. When we perceive the sacred in our daily actions, we immerse ourselves in them deeply, a beacon that lights our path and reconciles us with our human essence.
The sacred vulnerability in relationships
![The sacred vulnerability](/images/articles/La%20vulnerabilidad%20sagrada.jpeg)
Human relationships, in their diverse forms, have a sacred character. Father and son, mother and daughter, teacher and student; all are dances in which two souls intertwine. However, when these dances lack authentic connection and are reduced to mere superficial exchanges, anxieties are born. The sacred, then, is found in vulnerability, in stripping away the armor that the ego has built to protect us.
By allowing our walls to crumble, we reveal the primitive man and woman that lie within us. This act exposes us to our vulnerability by setting aside the illusion of control. However, by surrendering to our essential nature, we submit to something much larger than us, discovering its sacredness in that act. It is in this understanding, perhaps, that we find the meaning and purpose of our existence.
The guiding thread: Finding meaning in feeling
The search for meaning in life often resembles the journey of a navigator in an unknown sea. Isn't the compass of feeling the only instrument that can guide us toward safe harbors? Often, reasoning tries to impose a path, a philosophy like hedonism, for example. But if our ship isn't balanced and in tune with the internal beacon, that philosophy can wreck us in turbulent waters. Although it may seem attractive, the path that only makes sense on a rational level doesn't always resonate with our inner selves.
![The internal beacon](/images/articles/El%20faro%20interno.jpeg)
The true meaning of life, then, lies in doing what we feel has meaning, in undertaking the actions that we feel are worthwhile. It's nothing more than that; it's nothing more than the intimate experience, the melody born from our soul. We, and only we, are the true authors of our existential symphony, even though its notes often seem to repeat in the grand concert of humanity. The symphony of one man resembles that of another by 99%, and what changes are the stages and nuances, but the human stave is common.
Lighting from within
The essential thing, then, is to establish an authentic connection with our inner selves, a candid communication that allows us to extract the genuine from our essence and express it outward. Isn't it necessary to light our internal flame so that its light illuminates the shadows of our existence?
The Symphony of Life
![The human stave](/images/articles/El%20pentagrama%20humano.jpeg)
The meaning of life is, ultimately, a lived experience, a symphony that is played and experienced, not a score that is read and interpreted. The sacredness lies in understanding that, beyond the diversities of our personality, the human core is universal. Despite the differences in the instruments and the notes that each one chooses, the music of humanity vibrates in a common tone. This fundamental resonance repeats again and again in the grand symphony of existence.
This interior that defines us unites us more than it differentiates us. The similarities that constantly repeat themselves invite us to become aware that, before individuals, we are building blocks; we are part of a grand universal orchestra. Understanding this, resonating with this music we all share, is perhaps the most sacred act we can perform in our earthly existence.

Our daily journey is full of experiences that, like children in a candy shop, invite us to have fun and capture our attention with the sweetness of a candy we can't resist. From music to movies, from novels to games, we are immersed in a whirlwind of entertainment as seductive as a sweet treat. But, as always, there is another side to the coin: there are those who, with a stroke of a brush loaded with art, adorn us with stories that, being so human, leave an indelible mark. With this essay, I invite you to rethink our lives as aesthetic experiences, where each of us is the leading artist. When we place ourselves in the role of creators, inner truths emerge, and the possibility of designing the reality that best suits us opens up.
The Flight of Imagination
But what is imagination? I believe it is an underground river flowing within us, a secret garden full of possibilities.
"Live life as a work of art," goes a phrase by the famous Friedrich Nietzsche. In the museum, at the concert, we delight in experiences that come from the outside, like a breeze that refreshes us without us having control over its direction. But what if we try to turn our lives into a personal artistic experience? What if we are the sculptors of our own statues?
![The Lighthouse of Imagination](/images/articles/El%20Faro%20de%20la%20Imaginaci%C3%B3n.jpeg)
Aesthetics, perhaps a somewhat vague but powerful concept, is increasingly presenting itself as a cardinal element in human experience. It is a form of communication with artistic hues, where harmony plays a crucial role, like a tango where each step matters. Through it, ethical concepts find a new way of expression, more subtle but just as powerful. It is a stroke of beauty, fascination, attraction, mystery, and even ugliness that captures people in their emotional sphere and allows them to tune into the message we want to convey. Aesthetics is a key that opens doors to the minds of others, a window to other ways of perceiving the world, and a lighthouse that illuminates other possible realities. Aesthetics is, in short, a work of art of the imagination, ready to be savored like a gourmet dish.
But what is imagination? I believe it is an underground river flowing within us, a secret garden full of possibilities. Closely connected with our intuition, imagination manifests itself in shades of gray, in the robustness of ambiguity and openness to the unknown. In contrast, reason presents itself in black and white, in the rigidity of zeros and ones, where 1+1 will always equal 2. However, in the depths of our being, truths beat that resist mathematical laws that demand to be explored with the brush of our imagination by creating artistic experiences.
Invisible Dragons: An Aesthetic Perception
The art of getting lost in the aesthetic experience is like a dance in which we must let ourselves be carried by the music. I dare to venture that most of us lean on this form of art to deal with our internal contradictions, with those feelings that remain unsaid. We have an innate inclination to pay attention to lessons that unfold like paintings before our eyes, to teachings that take the form of sculpture, far more than to those dictated in a linear and direct way. As Jordan Peterson well pointed out, our psyche is designed to understand life through stories, as if we were characters in search of our own narrative arc.
![Stories that Come to Life](/images/articles/Historias%20que%20Cobran%20Vida.jpeg)
Literature is a clear exponent of this sincere art that, using the aesthetic technique, captures the reader and provides lasting teachings. Although the stories change over time, they are usually built from known archetypes, like the hero, to reflect our experiences and themes inherent to our human condition. The information in them condenses like a capsule, making it more understandable. This is the magic that resides in children's stories, where ethical lessons come to life in the creation of attractive and entertaining worlds.
An example that has captivated me is the story of the American cartoonist Jack Kent, titled There is No Such Thing as a DRAGON. The tale, narrated in a playful and even humorous way, addresses the consequences of ignoring problems, or "dragons," that live with us daily. It is through the story, the colors, and the figures of the drawings that this charm is formed, leaving lessons for both adults and children. Here lies the power of aesthetics: by establishing an emotional connection, it manages to communicate a profound message.
Our Masterpiece
So, how do we translate these aesthetic experiences into our own lives? How do we turn our existence into a work of art? The answer lies in the canvas of our imagination. We must be prepared to accommodate all the possibilities the real world can offer us. In simpler terms, we have to imagine different scenarios of our lives and dress with other characters and viable scenarios. Living our characters in the work of art we create is like experiencing a script we write ourselves.
It's crucial that we make the artistic decision to live in harmony with our intuition
It is essential that we teleport ourselves to other realities and connect with different interpretations of life. It's as if a skeptic imagined himself as a Catholic or a couple tried to imagine living outside their relationship or with someone else. By shuffling these alternative scenarios, we can glimpse what we truly long for and want to change or keep. It helps us be more humble both with other people's experiences and with our own contradictions. Imagining different scenarios allows us to perceive and resolve the dragons with which we coexist, or, conversely, it helps us to be thankful for our reality.
![Epic Reflection](/images/articles/Reflejo%20%C3%89pico.jpeg)
The aesthetic experience, therefore, enables us to confront and recognize our internal tensions, to interpret and overcome them. We should not remain paralyzed by fear or anguish. On the contrary, we must make the artistic decision to live in harmony with our intuition. Although it may seem that we are moving away from the rational, from the zeros and ones, it's vital that we stay connected with what we internally feel is true.
The Beauty in the Beast
It's not just about seeking aesthetic beauty in every corner but also about learning to tolerate and appreciate the ugliness, the mystery, the ambiguity, and the "dragons" that coexist with us. Aesthetics, in its broadest sense, gives us the glasses to perceive the world from various angles and, as a result, offers us the possibility to reconfigure our experiences, giving them our unique hue.
This aesthetic approach to life, far from being a mere theorization, can be a daily practice. By immersing ourselves in aesthetic experiences and allowing them to affect us, we have the opportunity to reflect, to rethink our beliefs and preconceptions. Moreover, by imagining ourselves in different situations, we not only achieve a better understanding of ourselves but also foster greater empathy toward others.
![Hidden Beauty](/images/articles/Belleza%20Oculta.jpeg)
The Ballet of Life
Although we live in a society guided by clear rules and norms, our inner world is a universe in itself, rich in nuances and not always fitting into the binary codes imposed on us. In this mix of reason and emotion, of certainties and doubts, light and shadow, lies the beauty of the human experience. In this space, aesthetics offer us the tools to communicate and understand each other better.
The Dance of Self-Affirmation
Living our life as an artistic experience is an act of self-expression and a path of self-knowledge and self-affirmation. By allowing ourselves to explore our contradictions, passions, and internal truths, we can fully embrace the complexity and richness of the human experience. This is the path to a more authentic existence; a life lived with greater depth and meaning. In this constant dance with aesthetics with art, we can shape our identity, perfect our steps, and dance to our own rhythm without losing the harmony of the whole. It is then that we discover that, in reality, we have always been the choreographers of our existence.

In the vast garden of thought, Praxnology stands as a compass guiding the sowing of ideas on local soil, weaving endless poetic flowers from seeds of curiosity. Isn't the infinitely varied mosaic of solutions that are born, grow, and evolve in our hearts more captivating than dogmatic marble sculptures that claim to solve everything? Come with me, then, on this journey where each idea is a living river, a tango in constant motion, a melody that resonates through the tapestry of local life, inviting us to dance in rhythm with its beat.
I see my ideas, I see praxnology, as seeds of poetry that are deposited in the fertile ground of those who wish to hear me, awaiting the miracle of their germination.
The Problem of Global Solutions and Their Historical Roots
History has repeatedly shown us how major religions, philosophical currents, and their political offspring, in their desire to imprint their convictions, have created complete thought systems. Images such as Christian crusades sweeping away local beliefs or Marx's visions coming to life in austere Soviet communism imprint on our minds. These ideologies, meticulously designed like a modern smartphone, provided us with total solutions, boldly and confidently telling us that they had thought of everything and had all the answers. But didn't it seem that no matter how brilliant and elaborate these ideas were, they were, in a sense, dead?
![Rain of Dogmas](/images/articles/Lluvia%20de%20Dogmas.jpeg)
Praxnology: A Local Adventure of Free Thought
I, and my belief in Praxnology, offer you another proposal: local solutions. But, like a map whose details only emerge when you zoom in, these solutions are found in the heart of chaos, in the core of our reality, so complex and full of emergent phenomena. It's like trying to predict the pattern that tree leaves will take when they fall in autumn: simply put, it's impossible to foresee the spark of a new idea in the human heart.
![The Dead Phone](/images/articles/El%20Tel%C3%A9fono%20Muerto.jpeg)
Seeds of Poetry: The Evolutionary Nature of Ideas
I see my ideas, praxnology, as seeds of poetry deposited in the fertile ground of those who wish to hear me, awaiting the miracle of their germination. It's not poetry designed to be simply beautiful or pleasant, but one that allows for interpretation, connection, and emotional engagement; poetry that is, in essence, alive. Isn't the flower that sprouts from the seed more beautiful than one already in its final form in a vase?
These living ideas, understood as a starting point rather than a finished product, are more aligned with the nature of our world, in which nothing is static, everything changes, and everything is alive. They're like the river that's never the same, constantly flowing and changing, rather than a motionless, cold marble statue.
![Fertile Heart](/images/articles/Coraz%C3%B3n%20Fecundo.jpeg)
A Call to Local Action
There are only local solutions that must germinate in the hearts of people and evolve over time and generations to transform into something mature and living. Like a tango that is born in a corner of Buenos Aires and, over time, transforms and multiplies into different interpretations and versions, each unique, alive, beating to the rhythm of the neighborhood that adopts it.
So, I invite you to listen to me, to allow these seeds of poetry to germinate in your hearts. Who knows? Maybe together, we can weave a symphony of local solutions, a melody composed by the diversity and complexity of our realities. Because there are only local solutions, each one awaits your active participation.
